Nags Head Memories

Favorite Vacation

Here are a few pics from my favorite place in the World.....North Carolina's Outer Banks. I'm sure some wonder what's so great about Nags Head. Well, I've been going there with my family on vacation since I was 11. Yep that means this summer we will celebrate our 20th year.

I have fond memories of :

~laying in a hammock

~riding the waves

~laying on the beach and people watching

~falling asleep on the beach

~ making numerous trips to Food Lion

~staying up all night

~playing games including Name That Tune with our CD collections (yep Dad beat us all)

~awesome food

~sitting around the pool until 10 p.m

~sleeping in bunk beds with Uncle Doyle, Sharon and Whitney--we did nothing but giggle most nights after everyone had gone to bed:)

~and countless others

I remember when the amusement park was still open and every year we would have a ball there. The men would ride go-carts and my cousins wife Yvonne, their daughter Morgan and myself would ride the Tilt-A-Whirl until we were almost sick. We would see how many times we could make it go around and all you could hear was us giggling!!

I just love the beach and the sense of peace it brings me. I can spend all day laying on the beach listening to the sound of the waves. Usually on vacation you try to sleep in a little. Not me, I am usually the first or second person up and I go sit on the deck, watch the sunrise and look for dolphins.

The Outer Banks is also very historical. They have an outdoor drama called "The Lost Colony" that I recommend every one seeing. I would also suggest taking a light jacket and bug spray-it's on the water.

I am excited because in a few short weeks our caravan will making the trip down to NH!!We pack so much stuff it's not funny. When you have a large family going, you have to take extra pots/pans etc to accommodate. We actually buy some things here and take down with us( paper products, sugar, tea bags,spices,etc.). Once we get there it's the big trip to Food Lion with everyone else who just got the keys to their house. It's not too bad since we have it down to a science. The only sad thing about this year is that I have to come home early because of school. The beach will always be there but it's sad I have to leave my peeps-some are already whining they don't want me to come back early (Uncle Doyle). It's ok and he understands but we have so much fun together:)

  1. Yea! I've never seen anyone from VA on here either! I know there must be more out there, I wish there was an easier way to find them. I went to William and Mary, so I quite familiar with New Kent.

The Outer Banks is wonderful, I'm glad you told people to bring the bug spray though, I got eaten up at "The Lost Colony."
