I'm sad to say the World lost a great Country Musician on Tuesday. Vern Gosdin passed away. If you are unfamiliar with his music......he sounds a lot like George Jones but better. I have loved his music for as long as I remember. He released a boxed set of his music in November and I was fortunate enough to have Santa Claus leave it in my stocking. It is 101 songs spanning his 40 year career. He started out in a Gospel group named the Gosdin Brothers and then his family had a traveling Gospel show. Some of his great songs were:
- "Do You Believe Me Now"
- "Set Em Up Joe"
- "Is It Raining"
- "Chiseled In Stone"
- "This Ain't My First Rodeo"
There are countless others but those are just a few of my favorite. I guarantee many of the stars of Country Music today count him as a mentor and many have played his songs when they were just starting out.For your listening pleasure here is a clip of Vern .........
I've got a busy weekend planned but the weather doesn't look too promising. Have a great weekend and I'll post more later.
